WASHINGTON (TVR) – Traveling through an airport for Thanksgiving? You’re going to have lots of holiday company.
A record 28.5 million passengers are expected to fly during the upcoming 12-day Thanksgiving air travel period, up 3% from last year, according to a new prediction from Airlines for America.
The estimate works out to 2.38 million passengers per day passing through U.S. airport terminals.
The busiest travel day is projected to be Sunday, Nov. 26—three days after Thanksgiving—when nearly three million flyers will be packing planes.
“Airline passengers continue to benefit from the highly competitive air-service landscape this holiday season, as low fares and increased availability of seats continue to make air travel widely accessible,” said John Heimlich, chief economist for A4A, in a release.
