WASHINGTON (TVR) – Pack patience this Memorial Day.
More than 39 million Americans are projected to travel more than 50 miles from home during the long holiday weekend, one million more travelers than last year and the highest amount in a dozen years, AAA announced.
“The expected spike in Memorial Day travel mirrors the positive growth seen throughout the travel industry this year,” Bill Sutherland, AAA’s senior vice president of travel and publishing, said in a statement.
“Higher confidence has led to more consumer spending, and many Americans are choosing to allocate their extra money on travel this Memorial Day.”
AAA says the most popular destinations according to their bookings are Orlando, Rome, London, Dublin, and Vancouver.
